Fitness For Duty Psychological Evaluations: When employees have sudden and unpredictable behaviors and performance changes, it is most effective to assess and treat their needs immediately. Providing emotional support can drastically shorten their time out of work.

 

Measure Both Medical and Mental Health
Working with risk management, our goals are to provide expedient, professional services that provide a maximum of information to make well-informed decisions, and provide a documented tracking system to monitor and measure change in the shortest time possible. Using a well-developed battery of assessment tools, we are able to differentiate between work-related issues and previous, long-term issues. Providing evaluations over time benchmarks the individuals' responses and identifies malingering or deception. This also serves as a quality-control. If the individuals are not progressing sufficiently, we are able to assess reasons for lack of progress and recommend alternative care processes to expedite return to work.

Psychological disorders are present in at least 20% of general medical outpatients, and physicians can fail to diagnose 50 to 75% of these cases. In an injury population, over-utilization of medical services may be as high as 40%. Identifying the underlying problems will not drive up costs but lower them by reducing medical intervention and supplementing services that are measurable, results-oriented, and less expensive. While many employers may fear that evaluating psychological aspects of an individual would drive up costs, the facts show that it actually lowers costs. Rather than having the individual constantly seek medical intervention, which in the end does not improve return to work, we are able to identify interventions that are timely, cost-effective, and appropriate. End Results: Assessing your own organization, ask: What percentage of claims are caused by emotional problems? What is the percentage of claims lengthened by emotional problems? Our services can help you get to 85% of your claims closed at full duty return to work or without permanent restrictions rather than the industry standard of 37%. You can have the potential to provide faster light-duty releases to your employees than the 14-week industry standard.
